Suspension work, yes or no?

Q: Why do I need suspension work?
A: First- The oil in your suspension has to be changed regularly (reccomended every 20 hrs), just as you would change the oil in your truck. Only with one exception, the internal parts must be cleaned and inspected for damage or wear.
Second- New bikes need suspension set up too. When a bike is manufactured the suspension set up is designed for a designated skill level, average terrain and most importantly a designated weight. More than likely your skill, terrain and weight are not what factory set up was designed for!
Third- Safety, Safety, Safety. An ill handling bike means less control, Therefore a good handling bike means more control.

Q: How do I know I need Suspension work?
A: Here are some indications= bottoming, deflection, packing on whooped out sections, extreme arm-leg - back fatique, leaking suspension oil.

Q: Why can I not adjust the clickers to get my suspension right?
A: Clickers are for fine tuning your suspension 2-3% at most and 90% of riders do not feel any changes until 5%. Once your suspension is set up for you then you can use the clickers to fine tune.

Q: Are my springs right for me?
A: Probably not! Again the stock springs are designed for a certain weight rider. If your spring is too stiff , the ride is harsh and not utillizing the full range of the valving in the shock or forks. If your springs are too soft you are just blowing through the valving in your shock or forks.

Q: I am not a racer, I just ride for the fun. Why should I spend time and money on suspension work?
A: Again, Safety. Safety and more pleasure in your ride. If your suspension is handling good, your number of crashes is greatly reduced. Which makes a more pleasurable ride.

Q: I am not a pro rider, how would a custom suspension set up benifit me?
A:
Amatuers benifit more from a custom suspension set up more than pros, simply because they dont have the ability to compensate and overcome an ill handling bike!
